Comfort Zone

A cow that is lying down or standing in a field needs at least 3 metres of space, the so-called 'comfort zone'. A cow will experience any obstacle within this zone as annoying and such obstacles will have a negative effect on her behaviour.

In most dairy barns, cows look for this space in vain. The free stalls often look like 'narrow cages'. A cow has to gather up all its courage to lie down and simply hope that she will not come in contact with the unpleasant steel. As a result of these barriers, cows often spend too long on their feet, which has negative effect on the milk production and hoof health.

The Comfort Zone offers a spacious environment that gives your cows complete freedom of movement at any given time. Since there are no obstacles in the way, the cows do not experience any fear of lying down or standing up. Cowhouse International has been importing The Comfort Zone from Canada since 2001.
