In Norway, the cows at Lauvhaugen Gård dairy farm enjoy the comfort of Dutch Mountain mattresses. Farmer Kai Arne Karlsen milks 45 cows and raises 92 young stock. His cows have access to both the barn and the pasture. To ensure the same level of comfort indoors, he decided earlier this year to upgrade the stalls with new mattresses.
"We were looking for new bedding to promote sustainability and production," says the Norwegian farmer. "We came across the Dutch Mountain cow mattress from Cowhouse online, and we immediately fell in love with it. We consciously chose the best mattress to improve the well-being and health of our cows.” Kai Arne adds, adding, "This mattress is incredibly soft and gentle on the cow." The mattresses were installed in April to everyone's complete satisfaction. "Bartel, a technician at Cowhouse, has been incredibly helpful. It was a great collaboration," Karlsen says enthusiastically.

"We're seeing a huge difference," says Kai Arne. "The cows are lying down much more and are noticeably more relaxed. ” He explains. "Previously, there were rubber mats in the stalls, and they didn't provide enough comfort. Now the cows lie down much more easily and rest more."
The results are impressive. The milk production has increased and our cows no longer suffer from damaged heels," he says enthusiastically. Would he recommend the mattress to other farmers? Kai Arne answers without hesitation: "YES! These mattresses are incredibly comfortable. They have a strong top cover, are very soft, and support cow health." With a smile, he concludes: "Our cows are happy — and so are the farmers!"
