Water plays a key role in milk production
If you give your cows sufficient clean drinking water, they will drink more, eat more, be healthier, which will result in a higher milk production. This sounds easy but the amount of water that a cow can drink is very dependent of the choices you make in this respect.
Highly productive cows drink up to 250 liter daily! The guideline for the need of drinking water is four times the milk production per cow, with a minimum of 40 liters. When the temperature is high a cow can produce 20 to 25 liters of water vapor per day. This amount a cow should be able to drink additionally.
